1. How would you describe yourself for someone who hasn't heard of you before?
I'm the little blonde girl who can really surprise people with the depth, soul and power of my voice. I like to think I am a "mash-up" of different genres.... if that could even exist! :)
2. Your debut single, "Won't Stop" is a pop stomper, are you contented on how it sounded?
3. It stated on your MySpace that you have a large influence from soul artists, what will we expect on your debut album?
I’m attracted to strong meaningful vocals found in soul and r&b artist's songs. On my debut album "Revealed", I’ve explored those two specific genres when creating some of my slower ballads, and kicked it up when needed in the more fast-paced tunes. My songs will make you think. Plus music wise, we’ve done some beautiful harmonies. Basically, i just love having fun and I wanted my debut album to reflect that... something you can listen to from start to finish.
4. Can you compare yourself to top pop artists of today? If yes, who is it and why so?
5. Do you have Musical Identity, so that people would easily recognize your music? Something like "Oh! That must be Lauren Christoff's!"
I'm still exploring this aspect, due to the fact that my music is so diverse. With the singles that have come out already, the hooks that have been written to be really catchy! As for the moment, I'd say the hooks are what are defining my musical identity. Once the CD comes out, you'll start to hear truly what my style is all about.
6. If given the chance, which DECEASED POP LEGEND would you like to collaborate with?
Sadly, one of my favorite artists of all time is under the “deceased pop legend” heading now. Old family videos show me as a 3 year old dancing around to Michael Jackson’s “Black and White”, or screaming in my room to “Thriller”! Doesn’t everyone know the Thriller dance? As an adult now, his soulful expressions in tunes such as “Man in the Mirror” have inspired some of my own song writing. To collaborate with such a musical genius would have been a dream come true.
7. What is MUSIC for you?
Since being introduced to the music business a couple of years ago, I’ve realized what its like to create an album, and trust me it hasn’t been easy! Writing music, and hoping people will connect with it emotionally on some level has been something I’ve continued to grind away at! But hopefully, my intimate connection with music with come across in my songs. I don't like my music to take itself too seriously, nor do i want to be categorized as too much of a "bubble gum pop" artist... which is why i took time to create an album that has a bit of everything... I'm really happy with it.
8. How do you like the direction music is headed in right now? Do you like it or is it something you want to change?
9. Besides music, what other things can Lauren Christoff do?
I’m currently a student full time at Ryerson University in Toronto ON, going towards getting my Bachelor of Arts degree. My free time consists of obviously recording, being around the people I love, and like your typical girl, I love going out with friends! There’s always somewhere new to discover I find, and my city never leaves me bored. Life’s an adventure!
10. How do you want to be perceived by music fans 15 years from now?
