NEW VIDEO: 08/31/09
MEET: Loebeat!
Loebeat a British pop trio made up of Lula, Dicey and Ramdaq. They are taking the Electropop/Glam spotlight as they were recently played on Sam Walkers BBC Manchester introducing show and are going to be played on BBC6 music introducing very soon. Their sound is influenced by edgy and stylish performers such as Grace Jones, Kate Bush, David Lachapelle, Xenomania, and Kraftwerk.
Combining our talents in songwriting, production, photography and art direction we create everything you see and hear with the Loebeat name attached.
Music Boy is sexy. From the opening riff, the verses... the whole song is hot. I can hear this played on today's dancefloors. Gladly, I'd dance to it, even in my room. The first song I heard from Loebeat is Fire. I loved it right away. The lyrics, the vocals, the beats are all so powerful. Reminiscent of Sam Sparro's "Black and Gold". Their track Unruly shows that they are also capable of the classic dance sound. It starts out a bit misleading with the indie-sounding guitar riff until the vocals kick in and it's full dance mode. Electric Beat displays their grasp of the electronica sound and they pull it off very well. It is a bit darker than the rest of the tracks so far. I Want More reminds me of the Soho Dolls. The backing beats are sick!
But it does not stop there. Just check this video out!
Loebeat truly satisfies ones mixed media needs. It will leave you asking for more.
Shout it out loud!

HOT CHELLE RAE's BIO
Ryan Keith Follese: guitar, lead vocals
Nash Overstreet: lead guitar, vocals
Ian Keaggy: bass, vocals
Jamie Follese: drums
Hot Chelle Rae announce themselves as a force to be reckoned with on their debut album Lovesick Electric. How can you argue with bold, swaggering vocals, monster sing-along choruses, crunching rock guitar, and a propulsive rhythm section that just won’t quit?
“We wanted the music to sound larger than life,” says guitarist Nash Overstreet of the group’s epic dance-rock sound. “We wanted it to sound explosive and new and fun and be better than anything out there,” adds frontman Ryan Keith Follese. Indeed, stomping, blistering jams like “I Like to Dance,” “Never Have I Ever,” “Say (Half Past Nine),” and “Bushes,” will sound equally fierce whether they’re blasting from a car stereo or emanating from an arena stage.
As one reviewer has already raved about the Nashville newcomers: “Hot Chelle Rae are honest to goodness rock and roll at its finest — ripe and arrogant, sweating with tangible promise that hangs in the air at their live shows. Posh arrangements featuring refreshingly tasteful guitar, sly lyrics, and a 22-year-old lead singer dripping with charisma, leave you knowing that these guys will end up somewhere—everywhere.”
High praise, but not surprising considering that all four band members were raised with music in their DNA. Ryan, his brother/drummer Jamie, and Overstreet are the sons of A- list Nashville songwriters with multiple number one hits between them, while bassist Ian Keaggy's dad is a world renowned Grammy-nominated guitarist.
“Growing up around music didn’t hurt, but I was never pushed to do it,” Overstreet says. “I just can’t remember a time when I didn’t want to play or write music.” Follese says his father actually encouraged him not to go into the music business. “But I don’t know what else I can do,” he says. “Music is the only thing I truly have a passion for.”
And so the guys claimed their destiny by forming Hot Chelle Rae, which they named after one of the group’s most devoted female fans. The band began to take shape in early 2005 when a mutual friend recommended that Overstreet and Follese meet. Follese was doing what he calls “the singer-songwriter thing” and was looking for a guitar player. But their first meeting didn’t go too smoothly. “We definitely didn’t like each other,” Follese says. “We dressed differently. I was clean-cut and Nash wasn’t. We looked like polar opposites, and it was just, like, no.” But the two managed to overcome their initial impressions and form their first band, which they called Miracle Drug. When their first show in August 2006 went well, they decided to try writing songs together and “we just clicked right away,” Follese says.
They brought in Nash’s childhood friend Ian Keaggy — a guitarist who didn’t even play bass until he joined the band. “Ian came to one of our shows where we had a hired gun on bass and he said, ‘If that guy can play bass, I can play bass,’” Follese recalls. “And that was that. He makes up the most creative stuff. We’ve written so many songs that have started with his bass riffs.” Ryan’s brother Jamie joined up soon after. “At first we weren’t sure because he was young, but we had a couple rehearsals with him and he knew every song because he’d been playing them for ages,” Follese says. “Anything Nash and I wrote, even if we hadn’t recorded it, he knew it. He’s a human metronome. He just stepped in and sat down and was like, ‘I know these songs.’”
At this point, Hot Chelle Rae had already been taken under the wing of entertainment exec John Hamlin, who signed them up for management. Hamlin then teamed up with music industry vet Don Ienner who guided them toward a deal with Jive Records. After signing with the label in October 2008, the guys began to gear up to make their first album, sorting through dozens of songs they had already written. “My dad told me early on that writing hit songs is just like your batting average,” Follese says. “He reminded me that Barry Bonds hits 70 homeruns a year, but he doesn’t hit a homerun every time — it’s maybe one out of ten. So if you want to write hit songs, you’re going to have to write 50 songs for your first record,’ which is what we did. We threw out loads of songs.”
To help them narrow it down, the band took advice from two of their producers, Eric Valentine and Butch Walker, both of whom know a little something about serving up hit albums. Valentine, who produced five tracks including “Say” and “I Like to Dance,” has worked with All-American Rejects and Good Charlotte, while artist/producer Butch Walker, who produced two tracks, “The Distance” and “Bushes,” has worked with Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, and Pink. “I don’t know if there’s a guy on earth more driven to make something sound the best that it can sound than Eric,” Follese says. “He is obsessive and only produces songs that he truly connects with, which is really cool.” “And Butch Walker is someone we’ve always really looked up to and have wanted to work with for a long time,” adds Overstreet. “When we were trying to decide who should produce the record, we figured why not shoot high? There’s so much passion and power in everything he puts to tape, he really helped us get that across.”
Lovesick Electric brims with the confidence and youthful energy that only a group of musicians with serious chops can deliver. “I think the album really reflects who we are and how we want the world to feel,” Overstreet says. “We can have a lot of fun and goof off, or we can be very serious and work really hard, and the album shows it all. We’ve got songs for people to listen to if they’re going through a break-up, like ‘The Distance’ or ‘Last One Standing,’ or if they want to just forget about work, like ‘I Like to Dance,’ or they want to dream about the future, like ‘Say.’ We’ve tried hard to make it completely accessible and something people can really relate to no matter what’s going on in their lives.”

OUT NOW: Ingrid Michaelson - Everybody (2009)
Type: Studio Album
Date Release: August 25
Genre: Indie Pop, Folk
Year: 2009
Following her sophomore album "Be Ok", Ingrid Michaelson offers a darker sound on "Everybody". A widget on her Myspace provides a preview of the whole album. Also, for a limited time, the album is available on iTunes for $7.99!
Track Listing/Review:
1. Soldier
2. Everybody
3. Are We There Yet
4. Sort Of
5. Incredible Love
6. The Chain
7. Mountain And The Sea
8. Men Of Snow
9. So Long
10. Once Was Love
11. Locked Up
12. Maybe
Now to my FAVORITE track on the album. Last 24th of July, iMeem did a "twitterview" with Ingrid and she mentioned that The Chain is her favorite song off the album, "It is my favorite in terms of melody, words and production. and its a round! i like rounds." I first heard of this song in "Be Ok", 4th track, Live From Webster Hall. I am so glad she decided to do an album version. This song is seriously addicting. [But I prefer the Live version more.] Mountain and the Sea also reminds me of "Be Ok" at first because of similar guitar openings. It's a nice transition from the mellowness of The Chain; it's upbeat and fun (but ends abruptly). You should listen to the whole of Men of Snow and experience the different instruments used and the changes in the song. It's moody and it crests to a powerful crescendo. So Long displays the purity of Ingrid's vocals. The instrumental makes it special.
Once Was Love has the pop sound out of the whole album. I was following the beat when I was listening to it. It is a nice mix up of tempo from the slow Indie sound to this Indie-pop with a slightly upbeat vibe. Locked Up gives the album a jazzy intro - quirky pop rock vibe. I did not expect that and it's the first time I heard this sound from Ingrid. And to close out the album, the first single of the album - Maybe. It's a perfect end to the album... going back to a fresh pop-y vibe. "Maybe in the future, you're gonna come back to me..." -- I will definitely would.
7/10.
New Contributor!
I am CATE, 21 in a few weeks from Los Angeles, CA. I'm originally from the Philippines.
I love pop music (duh!) and I'm always on a look-out for fresh acts especially on Myspace. Right now, I'm concentrating on INDIE POP and ELECTRONIC/DANCE/POP. So if that's your thing, let me know! :) And I don't only focus on "new" music; I also have relatively unknown artists to share. [And I live and breathe American Idol.]
Uhm... I was also a part of the previous PopAddicted blog albeit for a short while. I'm a long-time follower of this blog and it's an honor to be a part of it. I will serve as the REVIEWER of songs/albums - so if you have a song or a whole album you want checked out, send it over to me.
I can't wait to share my collection with you! Thanks!
PS: I can be stalkable via Twitter, Myspace, and Facebook.
MEET: Sean Ray + Exclusive INTERVIEW!
Another NEW singer to check out! We got a chance to set up an Interview with him and here's what we got. Care to check? You might like him, ...who knows?
-Have you chosen your first single? When will it hit iTunes? Are you planning a big release campaign?
I haven't chosen my first single just yet. I'm actually in the recording process still, so you never know which could be the single until the project is wrapped up. My single will definitely hit ITunes sometime in October. My team & I have been discussing a release party. We have big plans! It's going to be a nice celebration.
-What do you consider your first big break in your career?
I think my first "big break" would be signing to a major record company. That's definitely one of my goals & a big dream of mine!
-What is your songwriting/song creating process like? Do you get lyric ideas first or build your lyrics around a beat?
My songwriting process starts with inspiration. I usually hear a "track/beat" that I like and just zone out. Before I jot down any lyrics I let the track "speak" to me. I search for a concept that fits the track then I begin to sing different melodies. I usually start with the "hook", B section, the verses, then the bridge. I know that sounds funny but just call it unique!
-What's your favorite song you've written/finished so far, and why?
My favorite song (so far) would have to be "Hole In My Heart". The writing & recording process of this song is just unforgetable. I actually recorded this song in my home studio. Everything flowed nicely that night. You would think I really had a hole in my heart after hearing the record.
-You have opened for Lupe Fiasco and Rick Ross. Any fun, crazy touring stories?
Yeah opening up for rappers are pretty cool. Lupe is a real chill & humble person. I respect him for that. I don't have any crazy touring stories YET (laughing) - but I am definitely looking forward to those!
-What is the best music industry advice you've ever received that you'd like to pass on to aspiring performers?
Be patient and be humble!!! Don't be scared to show your talents! Go for what you want! It's possible if you let it!!
-Your commitment to bringing a positive influence toward the younger generation is really refreshing in the r&b/hip hop scene. Was this a conscious decision? Is being a positive role model something that is very important to you?
Being a positive role model is something I've been all my life. I have younger cousins & sisters who are as talented as I am and they look at me like a mentor or "the family star" even. I'm just a positive person all around. I'd like to make positivity a trend one day. Hoping more artists would do the same. As a Pop artist, I'd love to see all genre's join the movement.
-In your biography, you mention the influence of the late and great Michael Jackson. Which of his songs has the most meaning to you, and which would you love to perform live with your own spin?
I grew up on Michael Jackson's music, etc. His passing felt like losing a close family member. A few of my favorite songs are "Human Nature", & "Who is it".
I'd love to perform "Human Nature". Maybe I'll "cover" it one day.
-You have an incredible and professional online presence between your social networking profiles and street team. How important do you feel the online side of your campaign is to you?
My online campaign is very important to me. I love to network and be heard. I also like to give my fans a chance to get to know the real me but keep it professional at the same time.
-What musician or song is your greatest guilty pleasure?
I honestly don't think I have one (laughing)..
-If you could cover any song that's currently on radio playlists right now, what would it be?
I'd probley cover "Boyfriend #2" by Pleasure P. That was my joint for a while!
-What was the first album you ever owned (and loved) and what was the last album you bought?
My first album was Musiq Soulchild's "Aijuswanasing"! I love that CD so much I still listen to it this day & I was 15 when I bought it (laughing).
The last CD I bought was Brandy's "Human".
-What's one random tidbit about yourself that most fans wouldn't know?
(Laughing) Most fans wouldn't know I hate washing my own hair!
-Do you have any upcoming touring plans?
Yes, we're discussing a tour with a major artist so stay tuned!
-Message to the fans?
"Live your life to the fullest - Experiences are necessary!"

NEW MUSIC: Should We Have Another Round For Girls On TOP?

I'm hyperventilating when I saw the official cover for the single a few days ago and to see the song is out, I might be collapse right now. I LOVE Katharine sooo much and her first album is a MUST in your shopping list! This October, 13th, Kat will release her Sophomore Album called 'Unbroken' (mark that day NOW) and here's the first single. Had It All. Oh GREAT! I'm typing this while listening to the song for the first time and I already FALL for the song.WooHoo! Let's expect more amazing songs coming out from her album!

Enough with the 'Hallelujah' thing and move on to the other side from Alexandra Burke. Well, who missed this X-Factor winner raise your hand! Here's her second single which just release today. That kind of intro keeps my ear for not going anywhere and it drags me to the brilliant part of the song which is the chorus. Have a listen and tell me what you think! Everyone seems like it, how about you?

DOWNLOAD // Backstreet Boys - TroubleLeaks keep coming from this boys as they're about to release their NEW album 'This Is Us'. This time we got 'Trouble' which turns out to be another dancey POP tracks. Well, now wonder it sounds like that since Ne-Yo is the producer! Hmmm, Ne-Yo for Backstreet Boys, do you like the idea?
DOWNLOAD // Adrienne Bailon - SuperbadFormer Cheetah Girls member, Adrienne Bailon is getting ready to release her solo album. Here's one of the track from the album that sounds like current General POP that flooding most POP music nowaday. Cara to check? You might like it...

She keep amaze me everytime and it seems like she won't stop!. Her album is out and now we could hear another NEW song from Jordin (dunno the info behind this song, anyone?). It's called 'Colours' and it got 'Tatoo' back beat for the whole song. Played majorly in minor and sounds like a sad song to me... But still, I LOVE IT!

ANOTHER--yes another--NEW song from Alexa's current TV Series. This time it sounds totally different and rockier since--I guess-- she did it with Austin Butler.

Did I mention how ugly he looks from time to time? This is not what he should be, LOL. He's a grown up now and he's ABLE to choose his own musical style which didn't turn out that good. Hmmm... I do still hope he make at least one purepop ballad song like 'I'm All About You' or 'Do You Remember'. Hahah...

American Idol Season 7 contestant: Jason Castro is about to release his album! I'm not a big fan of him and not following his musical career, but this song is worth to check.

To end this post, let's have 78Violet on it! As you might recognized before, Aly & Aj CHANGE their band name into 78Violet. Ugh! I don't like this. Changing name would affect their music style right? Well, not WHOLE of it, but we could hear clearly that 'Next Worse Thing' (oh yes, the title make sense now) sounds rockier then before and we can't even hear the melody they used to bring. Hmmph. I just don't like this one and it would be hard to love this song. Let's hope they have another GOOD stuff for us on their upcoming album.

MARINA's BIO
For singer/songwriter Marina Chello, music has been everything for as long as she can remember. Originally from Uzbekistan, Marina learned English from singers like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Celine Dion. After years of voice and music classes, Marina began writing her own songs, eventually reaching out to notable producers via her Myspace Page. She greatly impressed legendary producer and Bad Boy Records President Harve Pierre, and is now preparing to release her debut album, What's Done Is Done, on Crazy Joint/Bad Boy.
There is significant excitement brewing around the young singer as she finishes recording her album, a heartache-heavy hybrid of next-level pop and R&B. Her single "Sideline" is already being picked up by Top 40 stations across the country and continues to gain momentum, while her uptempo track "What's Done Is Done" has also been snapped up by DJs across the country. A flurry of glowing online profiles and reviews on sites including Elle Girl, Teen, Young Hollywood, Alloy, MySpace and Imeem, just to name a few, have solidified the buzz, as fans hurry to upload their own versions of her songs on YouTube.
Since she grew up singing in several languages, including Russian, Spanish, and Italian, she brings a unique perspective to pop music. Her sound blends all the elements that have gone into the making of a young artist on the eve of great success – the inherently relatable songwriting that reflects a childhood glued to the radio, the passion of a young girl raised between two cultures, and the energy of collaborating with some of today’s most notable producers. With What's Done Is Done, it’s clear that there’s a new voice on the scene, and as "Sideline" continues its climb up the charts, Marina is ready to take center stage. Buy "Sideline" now on iTunes, and check out her Myspace page for more information.

Signed to All Around the World (record label) in January 2009. The feisty foursome have hit the dance floors with a thunderous start, ranking no.1 in the music week club breakers charts, received the backing of influential DJ's Trevor Nelson BBC Radio 1, Mistajam BBC Radio 1, Des Paul Capital FM and many more. N-DUBZ BIO:
N-Dubz are a MOBO award winning hip hop group from London, based around Camden Town. They were previously signed to Polydor Records before joining All Around the World Records. They have so far had three top 40 hits on the UK Singles Chart, one of them entering the top 20. Their debut album Uncle B was released on 17 November 2008 and debuted at #11 on the UK Albums Chart.
All of the members of N-Dubz attended school in St John's Wood, and came together as a group under the management of Dino Contostavlos's father, Byron Contostavlos (formerly of Mungo Jerry), who died on 12 April 2007. Members Dino (Dappy) and Tula (Tulisa) are cousins. Each appeared on Channel 4's Dubplate Drama after they began to get noticed as a group. Performing as the Lickle Rinsers Crew, they released the singles "Bad Man Riddim" and "Life Is Getting Sicker by the Day", which became hits on English pirate radio stations. Before their first single release, when they were known as NW1, they made a music video for the track "Everyday Of My Life" which received airplay on Channel U, they also recorded more demos as NW1 such as "Don't Feel Like Moving", "Girl On Road" and "Livin Broke". Their first single to be released was "You Better Not Waste My Time" available for download only until their 2006 self-released single, "I Swear", won them their first mainstream notice. It wasn't until 2007's "Feva Las Vegas" (also self-released) that the group appeared on the UK charts, peaking at #57.
After winning a MOBO for Best Newcomer, the group signed to Polydor Records and re-released their first single "You Better Not Waste My Time" on the label, which debuted at #26 on the UK singles chart.
In May 2008, a song entitled "Ouch" surfaced along with a music video. The video for "Ouch" attracted over 4 million viewers on networking site YouTube, in just over a month after release. On 6 August 2008, it was announced that the group had left Polydor Records and had signed to All Around the World records. The label predominantly specializes in dance music, however, they have occasionally released hip-hop records such as Ice Cube's You Can Do It. The press release stated that the label would be releasing "Ouch" as the group's first single on the label in September 2008. The group's first album, Uncle B, was released on 17 November 2008. The album features all of the releases that made N-Dubz famous, including "You Better Not Waste My Time", "I Swear", "Feva Las Vegas", "Love for My Slums", "Ouch", "Defeat You" and "Papa Can You Hear Me?". Strong Again was touted as the third single to be released from the Uncle B album on 16 February 2009 and a music video was made, before the physical CD released of the song was cancelled for unknown reasons. The song charted for five weeks in the UK Singles Chart, peaking highest at number 24. Group member Dappy was featured in Tinchy Stryder's 2009 #1 single tentatively titled "Number" 1, the video also featured cameo appearances from all N-Dubz's members. Due to the success of their debut album, the group embarked on their first headlining tour Uncle B Tour. The tour was originally planned for 16 dates but due to extreme demand 5 extra dates were added. The tour was supported by grime superstar Tinchy Stryder with whom N-Dubz collaborated on his #1 single "Number 1". The tour sold out within days.
During a band performance, Tulisa fainted on stage. Multiple news sources have reported that it was due to suspected swine flu. Jonathan Shalit, the band's manager, stated that Tulisa "was taken ill on the flight out to Greece on Thursday" and that "her bandmates are all very worried about her.". The group were due to perform at Radio 1's Big Weekend on 10 May 2009, but their participation was placed in doubt while Tulisa was hospitalised. It was later confirmed that Tulisa had tested negative for swine flu and the group did perform.
The song Wouldn't You was then announced to be the seventh, and last, single to be released from the Uncle B debut album. The song has been a fan favourite since the albums release in 2008. The song was released digitally on the May 25, 2009 and peaked at #64 in the UK.
N-Dubz are currently working on their second album since finishing the Uncle B tour. The group has stated this should be released either late 2009 or early 2010 according to a statement made on the groups facebook page by band member Richard "Fazer" Rawson. The band have confirmed that they have recorded a new song entitled "I Do Not Want To Go To Sleep" for their new album. Judging by the title of the song this solidifies Dappy's statement in an interview with 4music about a possible change in direction to making their Sophomore release an album of "Club Bangers". Dappy has since confirmed this and said they are currently living in a cottage with a studio, recording their new album for four months, they also stated their sophomore album will have 14 songs on it.
The group will be will be embarking on a Chistmas Party Tour from the November 17, 2009. They will visit 10 cities across the UK performing a couple of songs from their album "Uncle B" and some songs from their as-yet untitled second album as a taster for its release, as confirmed by their official MySpace page.

KESHA's BIO
If there’s one thing Kesha knows how to do, it’s tell stories. Here’s a pretty good one: Two years ago, the aspiring pop singer and songwriter decided she wanted Prince to produce her first album. So, she found out his address and drove to his Beverly Hills home, where she paid the gardener five dollars to let her squeeze herself under his front gate. Then she hiked up the driveway (which was lined in purple velvet), let herself in through an unlocked side door, and rode the mirrored elevator up to the third floor where the Purple One himself was jamming with his band. “It was kind of awkward,” she recalls, “but who cares, right? So I sat on one of the purple thrones in the room until he noticed me, which he finally did. He was like, ‘How the hell did you get in here?’” she says with a laugh. “His security kicked me out, but not before I left him my demo CD wrapped in a giant purple bow.”
Kesha never did hear from Prince, but the incident speaks volumes about this 22-year-old newcomer’s firecracker personality and determination. “I’ve always known I wanted to be a performer,” she says. “There’s video of me at age five, naked and covered in body paint, saying, ‘I’m going to be a rock star and there’s no way anyone is going to stop me!’ It’s my calling. If I don’t go for it, I’m going to feel like a tool when I’m 50.”
Luckily, Kesha won’t have to find out what regret feels like. She is currently at work writing and recording her debut album with executive producer Dr. Luke, who has scored No. 1 smashes for Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, and Flo Rida. After falling for her playful half-sung/half-rapped vocal delivery on a rough demo, Luke brought Kesha to RCA Records, which signed her in February 2009. The album — which will also feature Kesha’s collaborations with veteran hitmaker Max Martin (Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears) and in-demand songwriter/producer Benny Blanco (Katy Perry, 3OH!3, Spank Rock) — is shaping up to be an edgy collection of hard-hitting electro-pop songs, made all the more irresistible by their high-octane punk energy and Kesha’s irreverent lyrics and attitude. “I want my music to be fun, unapologetic, rowdy, quirky, humorous, and interesting,” she says, “but with substance behind it. I’m an emotional person underneath all my fronting. I want people to listen to it and feel like they can relate.”
Not surprisingly, the songs showcase Kesha’s flair for storytelling, though her choice of subject matter isn’t exactly conventional. There’s a song about the time Kesha threw up in a closet during a party at Paris Hilton’s pad (“Party at a Rich Dude’s House”), and one she says is about the time “some dumb bitch fronted like she was my friend but then secretly tried to bring me down” (“Backstabber”), and another about finding out her boyfriend was cheating on her with a famous pop starlet who shall remain nameless (“Kiss & Tell”). Oh, and the one she wrote about beginning to see the universe as a cyclical chain of connected events after meeting a guy in a club (“Chain Reaction,” which has been featured on MTV’s The Hills).
Kesha credits her love for story-songs to spending her formative years hanging out with veteran songwriters in Nashville. Her mom Pebe, a former punk-rock singer, is a songwriter whose career took off in Music City in the late ’70s when a song she co-wrote, called “Old Flames Can’t Hold A Candle To You,” became a hit for Joe Sun in 1978 and a country chart-topper for Dolly Parton in 1980. But by the time Kesha was born in 1987 (during a party in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley, Pebe was going through a bad patch, struggling to support Kesha and her older brother through her music. “We were on welfare and food stamps,” Kesha says. “One of my first memories is my mom telling me, ‘If you want something, just take it.’”
In 1991, Pebe moved the family back to Nashville, where she had landed a new publishing deal. Kesha saw the inside of a lot of recording studios. “I thought everyone grew up in a recording studio,” she says. She attended a music school in the Tennessee countryside (“where some of the kids didn’t have any shoes,” she recalls), took songwriting classes, and fell in love with country music greats Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, and Patsy Cline. “I’d listen to these beautiful songs and they all told stories,” she says. “Bob Dylan’s Nashville Skyline is one of my all-time favorite records.” From time to time, Pebe let Kesha sing on tracks she was working on. “My mom always told me, ‘You have a good voice, practice singing,’ so I’d sing everything all the time,” Kesha says.
When Kesha was 17, she quit high school, “which was crazy because I was enrolled in an International Baccalaureate program and was going to go to Columbia University and study psychology,” she says, “but I wanted to move back to L.A. and pursue my music.” That’s when she met Dr. Luke. “I had been looking for a female artist with an incredible, distinctive voice who had her own style,” Luke says. “Kesha didn’t sound like anybody else.” Dr. Luke was also working with red-hot hip-hop artist Flo Rida on a track for his second album. One night, Kesha was hanging out with them and the rapper told her he wanted a female voice on a track and asked if she wanted to lay down a vocal. Naturally, she obliged. In February, that track, “Right Round,” soared to No. 1, selling more than 636,000 downloads its first week out, and shattering the all-time one-week digital single sales record. (Kesha also contributes her sassy vocal stylings to “Touch Me,” another track from Flo Rida’s upcoming 2009 album R.O.O.T.S.)
“When I first heard my voice on ‘Right Round’ on the radio, I started screaming and crying,” Kesha says. “I may seem kind of crazy, but behind it all I have my s**t together. I’m working really hard to make this happen and it’s nice to see that hard work pay off. I mean, three years ago I was stealing canned vegetables from the dollar store to survive. Now I’m on a No. 1 song, working on my album, and have a little change in my pocket. To be able to take my mom out to dinner is the best feeling in the world.”
NEW MUSIC: Anna Abreu - Music Is Everywhere

Finnish-Portuguese POP singer, Anna Abreu is come up with a NEW single called 'Music Is Everywhere'. Oh yes, we're absolutely agree with that title. The song is a typical DancePop one that you would please to hear everyday (more extremely: everytime). You would find the intro as something that would force you to hear it 'til the end. No pause for first listen. Anna's voice is always powerful and it's suitable for the whole song. Great!

12 Things I Like About LOLLIPOP! "is that TOO much?"

1. The color scheme. Yes, it's obvious. They use all available bright colors in this video and surprisingly it can be looks very good (to me).
2a. The girls, they used to be very 'boyish' but they all look totally cute here! And the way they spell 'Lolli-lolli-oh-lollipop' at the intro looks very childish! LOL, they know how to act in such situation. 2b. Take a look at Dara's face when they start this tune. It's like she's mad or what? Scary...
3. T.O.P following by CL's voice IS the BEST decision to start the song! Both are mind blowing...
4. CL's sunglasses and that bright PINK color for her lipstick is yet another great addition for the MV's color scheme
5. Sparkle from CL's when she snap her finger, CLING!
6. SeungRi's outfit which looks like raincoat. He should fly then!
7. Is that Minzy or DaeSung? They look similar in a flash when they wear that shocking Pink clothes.
8. That moves between CL & TaeYang, Minzy & TaeYang, and CL & SeungRi. Haha, MORE MORE MORE!
9. 'Lollipop' in rainbow shape come out from GDragon's hand? Whoot!
11. The girls' stiff moves. I dedicated this one to Bom & Minzy. What happen to them?
12. Dara's hair... how long does it take to create something like that? We kinda need it in the middle of Global Warming issues...
NEW MUSIC: DBSK, Super Junior, & SHINee - Seaside
DOWNLOAD // SeasideIs that a combo? Those are 3 famous KPOP Boybands and they contribute to this typical Summer song called 'Seaside' (well, I don't see my fav. BigBang, but that's totally okay with me, LOL). The song is something you would commonly hear when you're at the beach. Haha. But there's a part when it's suddenly change into pure POP. Following by the best thing they can do: Rap and shouting all over the place and overall, I guess it's suitable for Lilo & Stitch soundtrack!

There's no particular changing on the NEW version, but we could hear their voice sounds so much better and the music is pretty neat this time.

POP COVER: Samanda - Barbie Girl
DOWNLOAD // Barbie GirlPop Twins, came out from UK named Samantha & Amanda (read: Samanda) covered Aqua's Hit single 'Barbie Girl'. Yeah, that bubblegum pop song "I'm a barbie girl, in a barbie world". Seems like everyone love to cover that song. This happen in 2007 and it even entered UK's Single Chart at #26!
Today's POP: Venke Knutson - Holiday
DOWNLOAD // HolidayEasy POP & summer typical song from Norwegian singer, Venke Knutson. Hmm, I got all of her album but never put lot of attention to it (just like usual, so pardon me if I overreacted to some old-song-people-know-already-that-it's-amazing). Maybe I should dig her more later since this song sounds really catchy! And as I went to YouTube to find if she released an MV for this song, I found another amazing one called Just A Minute. How could I?! -_-"
POP: Jennifer Lopez - Love Don't Cost A Thing (Video Version)
DOWNLOAD // Love Don't Cost A Thing (Video Version)Remember the song? YES WE DO!
I think I ripped it directly from the video long time ago. Not in the BEST Quality, but it's still good to hear. We know there's a break part on the video where JLo and her dancers perform a short moves which is quite amazing! If you don't have it, better grab it now :)
NEW MUSIC: Ingrid Michaelson - Maybe

POP+NATION INTERVIEW: Lauren Christoff!
1. How would you describe yourself for someone who hasn't heard of you before?
I'm the little blonde girl who can really surprise people with the depth, soul and power of my voice. I like to think I am a "mash-up" of different genres.... if that could even exist! :)
2. Your debut single, "Won't Stop" is a pop stomper, are you contented on how it sounded?
3. It stated on your MySpace that you have a large influence from soul artists, what will we expect on your debut album?
I’m attracted to strong meaningful vocals found in soul and r&b artist's songs. On my debut album "Revealed", I’ve explored those two specific genres when creating some of my slower ballads, and kicked it up when needed in the more fast-paced tunes. My songs will make you think. Plus music wise, we’ve done some beautiful harmonies. Basically, i just love having fun and I wanted my debut album to reflect that... something you can listen to from start to finish.
4. Can you compare yourself to top pop artists of today? If yes, who is it and why so?
5. Do you have Musical Identity, so that people would easily recognize your music? Something like "Oh! That must be Lauren Christoff's!"
I'm still exploring this aspect, due to the fact that my music is so diverse. With the singles that have come out already, the hooks that have been written to be really catchy! As for the moment, I'd say the hooks are what are defining my musical identity. Once the CD comes out, you'll start to hear truly what my style is all about.
6. If given the chance, which DECEASED POP LEGEND would you like to collaborate with?
Sadly, one of my favorite artists of all time is under the “deceased pop legend” heading now. Old family videos show me as a 3 year old dancing around to Michael Jackson’s “Black and White”, or screaming in my room to “Thriller”! Doesn’t everyone know the Thriller dance? As an adult now, his soulful expressions in tunes such as “Man in the Mirror” have inspired some of my own song writing. To collaborate with such a musical genius would have been a dream come true.
7. What is MUSIC for you?
Since being introduced to the music business a couple of years ago, I’ve realized what its like to create an album, and trust me it hasn’t been easy! Writing music, and hoping people will connect with it emotionally on some level has been something I’ve continued to grind away at! But hopefully, my intimate connection with music with come across in my songs. I don't like my music to take itself too seriously, nor do i want to be categorized as too much of a "bubble gum pop" artist... which is why i took time to create an album that has a bit of everything... I'm really happy with it.
8. How do you like the direction music is headed in right now? Do you like it or is it something you want to change?
9. Besides music, what other things can Lauren Christoff do?
I’m currently a student full time at Ryerson University in Toronto ON, going towards getting my Bachelor of Arts degree. My free time consists of obviously recording, being around the people I love, and like your typical girl, I love going out with friends! There’s always somewhere new to discover I find, and my city never leaves me bored. Life’s an adventure!
10. How do you want to be perceived by music fans 15 years from now?

POP VS A-POP
You know that feeling you get when you hear a song, that “I heard this song before feeling.
Today I had one of those again. I was listening to an Asian artist I discovered yesterday and toward the end of the album there was this song that caught my attention.
I hadn’t heard the intro of the song and couldn’t place it but then I played it again and I knew for sure.
We all know Stacie Oricco’s “Strong Enough” right? This Hong Kong based pop rock singer Kary NG covered this song on her second album “In control”. The song itself got the title “怕 (Fear)”.
You be the judge. Which version you like best?

GIN's BIO
Once you’ve heard Gin sing, you won’t forget the name.
For the uninitiated, here are the basics on the sublimely talented Gin Wigmore. Gin is 23, a Kiwi, a gifted songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and she sings like you’ve never heard anyone sing before. Gin was born in Auckland, lives in Sydney and has just recorded her brilliant debut album, Holy Smoke, in Hollywood’s famed Capitol Studios.
Gin created Holy Smoke with Mike Elizondo as her producer [Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor, Eminem, Nelly Furtado, Maroon 5] and with The Cardinals as her backing band [as in the very same Cardinals from Ryan Adams & The Cardinals]. Cardinals’ guitarist Neal Casal has described Gin as “unquestionably one of the most exciting new artists to emerge in many years. Her songwriting is at once diverse, intelligent, melodic, and soulful. Her voice is raw and emotional, with phrasing far beyond her years. Her debut record is a fully realised statement of intent, promising a great career ahead.”

If you’ve already heard Gin Wigmore sing, a lot of those questions answer themselves.
Personally, Gin has always felt she’s had a sort of guardian angel – or rather a team of guardian angels – guiding her through the formative years of her music career.
In late-2007, Gin signed to Island Records in Australia, the local label’s first ever signing. In 2008, she released her critically-acclaimed debut EP, Extended Play, which featured “Hallelujah”, as well as another epic ballad, “These Roses”, alongside celebratory tracks such as “SOS” and “Under My Skin” – songs that left a lasting impression on anyone who heard them.
On the back of the EP, Gin started touring extensively through Australia and New Zealand. Aside from her own shows, Gin was invited to play support act on Australian tours by Pete Murray and Sparkadia. In New Zealand, she performed on an arena tour alongside John Mellencamp and Sheryl Crow.
“I wanted all new songs,” Gin says. “I’m in a new chapter of my life. I think I’ve grown up a lot in the last five years so my songs on this record, the majority belong in this new chapter of life, so they show a whole new side to me as well.”

MEET: Katia!
KATIAVisit: MySpace, FaceBook, iSound
A classically trained pianist who remains one of the youngest vocal soloists ever to perform with the Russian Philharmonic, New York-based singer-songwriter Katia has a pop music style as unique as her background.
Songs like her debut single "Girl Like Me" reveal her classical melodicism within a pure pop context, in which her lyrics-about the "day-to-day stuff that girls go through," she says in typically engaging perfect English-are nailed by her beautiful but insistent singing voice.
Ten years old at the time of her highly publicized performance with the Russian Philharmonic, the St. Petersburg native, who is now sponsored by the Baldwin piano company, came to America shortly thereafter.
She has studied music on her own ever since, absorbing along the way influences ranging from Madonna to Norah Jones-both of whom, incidentally, have been mentioned among artists whom Katia evokes. Indeed, renowned producer David Kahne was so impressed by Katia's talent that he offered to produce "Girl Like Me" in between recording projects for Paul McCartney and Sting.
But Katia has attracted other noteworthy collaborators as well for her debut EP, which is also titled "Girl Like Me." Steve Greenwell, notorious for his work with Joss Stone, Vic Flowers, a producer and musician whose credits include Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, have assisted on the production side; producer/engineer Tony Maserati (Destiny's Child, Mariah Carey, Jason Mraz) did the mixing. The EP release is due in August, but Katia will continue her busy schedule up through then and beyond.
She has already written and performed the end-title song for "The Bleeding," a horror film starring Michael Madsen and Armand Assante that is slated for release later this year. She also sat down in May for a 40-minute interview/performance segment on the Internet's cutting-edge BreakThru Radio site. And she has been invited to perform at a Make a Wish Foundationbenefit in New York in October. And of course, she is playing regularly with her band of like-minded musicians in numerous locations in her home base.

Today, Amber Lily is a rising star- working with Hollywood's top agents and producers on the next phases of her career.

No more Krezip
The end of one of Holland's most successful bands almost passed me by with out knowing it. It was only by accident that I tuned in to a Dutch Channel last night where I discovered the final concert that the band will ever give.
After 10 years Krezip is no longer together. The band became famous through their first single “I would stay” and even though it had been quiet around them for some time in the past they never left their fans’ minds, which was obvious at the goodbye concert, where people were crying at the end of the night.
Krezip has released their final album and DVD, sweet goodbye, a live album of ther final concert
